"The measure of a society can be how well its people treat its animals."
-Mohandas Gandhi

The Henderson County Humane Society was established in 1950 and is a membership organization made up of people, like you, who care about animals and our community. We are supported in a variety of ways - through the Thrift Shop, membership dues, our Community Foundation fund, and gifts such as endowments and memorials. We receive NO funding from any government source.
In July 2003, the decision was made to change the name of our organization to Blue Ridge Humane Society. Even though our name has changed our committment to the homeless, unwanted, abused and neglected animals in our community has not - nor will it ever.
There is always more work to be done. In fact, many are not aware of the scope of programs and services that we offer. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or if you need further information before making a decision, we welcome your call or visit to The AARC. Stop in and see what we're all about - you may be surprised!
The AARC is easy to find! From the Hendersonville area, travel 8.5 miles on Highway 64 East. We are located on the right - just past the Edneyville Post Office.
If you are traveling on Interstate 26, exit at 18A. Once on 64 East, travel 8.5 miles to the AARC.
AARC Hours of Operation
Monday - Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturday 12:00 noon - 5:00 p.m.
